Becki Graham was elected to the Las Cruces City Council in November 2021, and is proudly representing District 3. Raised in northeastern Pennsylvania, Becki moved to Las Cruces in September 2000 to attend graduate school at NMSU. After earning a Master’s degree in anthropology and a Ph.D. in English, she – like so many others who discover this city – decided she could never leave.
Becki has been a staff and adjunct faculty member at NMSU/Doña Ana Community College since 2011. In her staff role, Becki researches and develops programs that support sustainable, equitable regional economic development. She has taught writing courses, focusing on developmental writing skills and critical thinking, and has consistently learned from her students as much as she taught.
Becki’s husband, Mike, is also an NMSU alum and is a driver and EMT for the Las Cruces Fire Department. They share passions for mountain biking and boxing; and share their home with their beloved dogs, Dawkins and Ghost.
